We worked with the Pink Robots, an all-girl robotics team from New Jersey, who were looking to make their mark in a boy-dominated competition. They brainstormed names, sketched some visuals, and then we went to work creating cost-effective options for uniforms and a website to document their outcomes.

Four girls in Pink Robots branded shirts and headbands mug for the camera.

The girls were brilliant. Not only were they masters at engaging with the judges, in their second year, the Pink Robots won their NJ State sectional tournament and went on to compete for the state title.

The Pink Robots motto, I love R pink 1, with the word love represented by a heart shape.

The girls settled on “RPINK1” as the name of their robot mascot—after the naming convention used by R2D2. We then refined a drawing of the adorable character and created a proprietary typeface based on the iconic Lego brick—a reference to the tournament sponsor and the material used to construct their robots.

Pink Robots I love pinky buttons attached in rows on red and black knee-high socks.

A variety of buttons were given to the girls to complement their custom t-shirts. They were also gifted and traded with judges and other teams to create buzz and engagement.

We designed and built a simple website that was used to document the team’s research project, record achievements, and share news.
